Our History
The Global Association of Economics Education (GAEE) was established in 2017 to advance economics education and financial literacy among students in developing countries and marginalized communities. Recognized as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in the United States and as the #SDGAction36897 by the United Nations, GAEE has grown into a major student-led contributor to the global movement for economics education reform. Driven by a commitment to democratize economics education, GAEE India was founded in August 2020 as the first South Asian chapter of GAEE International. Since its inception, GAEE India has built a vibrant network with chapters at prominent universities, including Hansraj College, Lady Shri Ram College, Delhi Technological University, and Jamia Millia Islamia, reaching over 400 students nationwide. The chapter has partnered with distinguished organizations and experts to deliver impactful workshops, training sessions, quizzes, and discussions on economics, finance, entrepreneurship, consulting, and policy. Entering its fifth year in operation, GAEE India looks forward to expanding its reach and impact and continuing to empower students and communities across the country
With a drive for growth and a common aim of democratizing economics education, GAEE India (formerly GAEE North India) was founded in August 2020 as the first Indian chapter of GAEE International.
GAEE India has collaborated with various imminent organisations and personalities to conduct numerous training workshops, sessions, quizzes and enriching discussions pertaining to economics, finance, entrepreneurship, consulting and policy issues. We look forward to the continuous growth of GAEE India in the years to come.
Our Vision
GAEE India strives to create an inclusive and dynamic platform where college students from all backgrounds can bridge the gap between economics education and real-world application. Through engaging workshops, events, and discussions, we aim to equip our members with practical knowledge in economic theory, personal finance, and entrepreneurship. Our vision is to open access to quality economics education for students across India, challenging the notion that these fields are reserved for a select few and fostering a diverse, empowered community of future leaders

Being a Mathematics student at Lady Shri Ram College for Women, who is interested in the interdisciplinary nature of the subject and its applications, GAEE India gave me a platform to promote education not just in the field of Economics, but also in the realms of finance and entrepreneurship, and to explore the interdisciplinary areas within them. As the Vice Chairperson I will ensure that we use this space to empower ourselves and our peers.

For me, GAEE has been a space of learning, leadership, and growth both individually and collectively. It’s where I’ve discovered the power of collaboration and the importance of showing up with purpose. As the General Secretary, I hope to contribute meaningfully to our vision and foster a culture of initiative and inclusivity. And when I’m not working on that, I’m studying Economics Honours at Jesus and Mary College, constantly trying to bridge the gap between theory and practice.

As Director of Information Systems, I strive to design systems and strategies that not only streamline our work but also amplify our initiatives. I’m passionate about using creative tools to promote GAEE’s vision and engage a wider community. When I’m not doing that, I’m studying Commerce at Daulat Ram College, exploring the intersection of finance, sustainability, and innovation.
Lakshmi K Rajeev
Director of Research
I’m Lakshmi K Rajeev, Director of Research at GAEE India and a sophomore at IIFT. I work at the intersection of economics, policy, and finance, building collaborations that expand curiosity and bring ideas to life. When I’m not analyzing central bank independence or revamping branding strategies, you’ll find me exploring international relations, organizing events, or chasing new perspectives on foot, on paper, or in policy.
Inflation is my second love, right after adrenaline-filled deadlines.
